This is my very first post and I would like to use this forum to share with all of you what’s happening behind the scenes at LordsOfOdds. It’s been a very long and strange trip till here. We had launched a prototype some time back with current IIMC and IIML students as our trial users. A lot of them had really gotten hooked onto the site and based on their feedback, we’ve tried to improve the user experience and get a relatively more jazzy site up and running. It’s a different story that all this jazz is causing havoc on a technical front – especially with IE vs Mozilla issues. I don’t understand why these big boys can’t come to terms with each other and have a single Browser standard which everyone will comply with…..you can’t imagine how many man-hours of effort will get saved all over the world. One of the guys in our team was telling me that a majority of development time in web-based apps goes in fixing IE vs Mozilla issues. But if push comes to shove and you asked me to choose between the two, I’d say IE sucks!
Anyways we’ve just launched the beta site and are currently fighting with all sorts of teething issues which I’m sure a lot of you have noticed (especially the IE users), but hopefully we should be able to iron them out over the next few days. If you notice any bug, I’d be very thankful if you dropped us a line at admin [at] lordsofodds [dot] com telling us about it.
But over the next few days, you will get to see more on the Leaderboard front, with more leaders emerging! How that will happen, I’ll keep it a secret for the time being. We are also trying hard to get sponsors for some contests with prizes.
